Trustees

In addition to their legal obligations, Trustees are always delighted to help churches in the two counties with communications issues.

However, please bear in mind that all Trustees give their time and services on a completely voluntary basis and we ask that you respect this.

Gerald Peacock

Major Gerald Peacock FInstAM (Chairman)

Prior to retirement, Gerald was an Accredited Practioner with the CIPR. He spent over 10 years as a Director of PR both regionally and nationally for The Salvation Army. During this time he studied and gained the CAM Certificate in Communication Studies and the Post Grad Diploma of the CIPR.

His main area of expertise is in presentations and events planning.  He was a visiting lecturer at The Salvation Army’s international staff college, teaching the basics of PR and communications to delegates from developing nations, aided by 6 years experience serving in five African countries.

He felt and still feels that using PR was an important part of his Ministry and is anxious that the church learns to communicate itself and its message more efficiently in the modern age.

Pam Blackburn

Pam Blackburn

Pam has worked for local newspapers and magazines for more than 40 years. She has been a reporter, feature writer, sub-editor and editor in Kent, the Midlands and Hertfordshire.

In 1996 Pam started a bi- monthly magazine, Village Affairs, covering the villages and countryside of north and east Herts which continued for 13 years. 

Now semi-retired, she still freelances on local newspapers and is churchwarden at Holy Trinity Church, Weston.

 

John Hayes

John Hayes is married to Linda with 2 adult children, Laura and Peter. John is the assistant Minister at St Martins Church, Shenley having trained for ministry 26 years ago on the St Albans Diocesan Ministerial Training Scheme.

Although John qualified and worked as a Chemist for 18 years, he is now working as an IT Security specialist for Her Majesty’s government. Prior to that he worked as an IT systems engineer.

His interests include music and John is actively involved in a small band who play for local charities such as the Gateway club at Rickmansworth who are affiliated to Mencap.

Arun Kataria

Arun Kataria

Arun is Communications Officer for the Diocese of St Albans and the Bishop of St Albans Press Officer.

He has worked in all aspects of communications and public relations in the church for sixteen years, and has spent his career in the voluntary sector. His particular interests are electronic media and video/photography.

Married with two daughters, he lives in St Albans.

Hilary Robertson

Hilary Robertson

Hilary is a teacher of English and Media Studies. She trained at the University of Hertfordshire in 2006 and is currently working at Fearnhill School in Letchworth.

Before training as a teacher, Hilary was a freelance writer and editor, with a list of clients as diverse as Unilever, Quest International and Mercedez-Benz. She gained her degree in English and Music at the University of London and spent a number of happy years as a professional saxophone player.

Hilary is the daughter of John Seabrook, one of the original BHCMT trustees, and lives in Hitchin with her two children, Florence and Freddie.
